Unit information
The Ahuja Medical Center Step Down Unit is a 22 bed telemetry unit which cares for cardiac, medical, surgical and neurological patients. The SDU will care for patients with CHF, pneumonia, diabetes, post CVA, patients requiring neurological care, and postoperative care for cardiac catheterization, carotid endarterectomies, post MI’s, post pace maker and defibrillator placements, sepsis and medical/surgical patients. Nurse to patient ratios for days are 4:1, with nights generally a 5:1 ratio.

Position Requirements
- Provides safe efficient age specific nursing care to patients/families using the nursing process in order to assist them to attain, maintain, regain, and sustain optimal health status. Dimensions are:

Qualifications
Education Requirements
- Diploma RN, Associate or Bachelor’s Degree of Nursing from an accredited program
License & Certification Requirements
- An Ohio RN license is not required to be considered for this position. If selected to move forward, employment offers may be made contingent on candidate successfully obtaining RN license within time frame discussed at the time of offer acceptance.
- Current BLS Provider Certification, issued by the American Heart Association, must be obtained during Nursing Orientation.
Note: Education and degree verification will be required upon receiving a job offer.
Preferred Qualifications
- BSN preferred
- Prior experience on a related unit or specialty in a practicum, internship or STNA/PCNA/NAII is preferred
