A Brief Overview
The Infusion Intake Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the insurance coverage and financial clearance of home infusion and specialty infusion medications as well as necessary ancillary skilled care needed to properly care for the patient.These responsibilities include: verification of active insurance coverage, creation of financial responsibility forms, communicating with allied health staff, obtaining authorization for infused medications, obtaining prior authorization for specialty infused medications, obtaining ancillary skilled care authorizations, obtaining reauthorizations as necessary, and documenting in electronic medical records, triaging incoming referrals, and training new employees. All assigned activities are performed under the direct supervision of the Pharmacist and Pharmacy Manager.
What You Will Do
- Accurate verification of insurance coverage and creation of financial responsibility forms
- Accurate authorization or prior authorizations to patient’s insurance
- Oversee documentation in appropriate electronic health records
- Oversees the completion of job and competencies.
- Onboarding of students and new hires
Additional Responsibilities
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all policies and standards.

- Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
Qualifications
Education
- High School Equivalent / GED (Required) and
- Bachelor’s Degree (Preferred)
Work Experience
- Pharmacy experience (Preferred) and
- Home care experience (Preferred) and
- Prior experience as infusion intake coordinator or completing insurance benefits verification (Preferred)
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Competent in all practice areas (Required proficiency)
- Good communication skills are essential. (Required proficiency)
