Patient Access Representative – Seidman Cancer Center at UH Tripoint Medical Center
Position will require initial training in Mentor or Chardon, Ohio
Make a Difference in the Cancer Care Experience
As a Patient Access Representative within our Cancer Center, you will play a vital role in creating a welcoming, supportive, and seamless experience for patients and families during some of the most important moments in their healthcare journey. Often serving as the first point of contact, you will help patients navigate appointments, registration, insurance, and communication with empathy, professionalism, and attention to detail.
This highly visible role is ideal for someone who is compassionate, organized, and passionate about delivering exceptional service while supporting patients receiving specialized oncology care. Your work directly contributes to both the patient experience and the coordination of high-quality cancer care across our multidisciplinary team.
What You’ll Do
- Welcome and assist patients and families during check-in and check-out for cancer care visits
- Answer incoming calls, address patient questions, and schedule appointments with empathy and professionalism
- Support patients in enrolling in and using MyChart to stay connected to their care team
- Accurately enter and update demographic, insurance, and financial information to support smooth patient access and continuity of care
- Coordinate and communicate important information with physicians, nurses, and other members of the oncology care team
- Assist with insurance verification, authorizations, referrals, and billing-related questions
- Collect and process patient payments including copays, deductibles, coinsurance, and prior balances
- Help patients complete necessary forms and documentation related to their care
- Manage EPIC work queues, worklists, in-basket messages, and document scanning in a timely and accurate manner
- Schedule follow-up appointments, referrals, and diagnostic services to support continuity of cancer treatment

Additional Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with providers and staff across the health system to improve patient experience and operational efficiency
- Participate in emergency preparedness activities and departmental training
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment
- Cross-train to support additional functions within the department as needed
- Support coverage at off-site locations when necessary
- Adhere to all organizational policies, standards, and compliance requirements, including the secure handling of Protected Health Information (PHI)

Education
- High School Equivalent / GED (Required)
- Associate’s Degree or progress towards degree (Preferred)
Work Experience
- 1+ years Customer Service (Required)
- 2+ years Customer Service or Customer Service in healthcare (Preferred)
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Exceptional communication skills with both patients and medical care providers to relay necessary information (Required proficiency)
- Ability to juggle and prioritize multiple responsibilities and handle interruptions (Required proficiency)
- Strong organizational skills (Required proficiency)
- Problem-solving skills for scheduling conflicts, missing documentation and other issues (Required proficiency)
- Attention to detail to ensure all patient information is accurate and available (Required proficiency)
- Compassion to help patients and caregivers in difficult situations (Required proficiency)
- Understanding of the importance of confidentiality (Required proficiency)
- Basic knowledge of electronic health records and basic medical terminology (Preferred proficiency)
