A Brief Overview
Position will have oversight for Geneva and Conneaut Medical Centers
Geneva and Conneaut Medical Centers provide the residents of Geneva and Conneaut and the surrounding communities with high-quality health care. These 25-bed non-profit, acute care hospitals are designated as Critical Access Hospitals, a federal program designed to ensure that individuals in rural areas have access to emergency care and other essential medical services.
- Oversees general laboratory operations that include but are not limited to, in-patient phlebotomy, processing, core laboratory technical operations, financial and billing aspects of the core lab, special report generation and analysis necessary for strategic decision making.
- Shall serve as a resource for Technical Coordinators and other leaders in all aspects of core laboratory operational matters.
- Is also involved in and responsible for the implementation and verification oversight of all new equipment and serves as project manager for those implementations.
- Takes a leadership role in the directing, developing and operating the outreach laboratory business.
- Ensures compliance with all applicable accreditation, local, state & federal regulations.
- Acts as the liaison with IT to ensure smooth operations of laboratory systems and services.

- Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a biological or chemical science (Required) or
- In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, an Associates Degree in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology with 8+ years of related experience including previous supervisory experience (Required)
Work Experience
- 5+ years of progressive management experience in laboratory medicine. (Required)
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Thorough knowledge in all areas of laboratory operations including quality control, safety and compliance regulations, regulatory and accreditation standards, process improvement, and billing practices. (Required proficiency)
- Basic knowledge in areas of contracting and financial management, including contract negotiation and budget development. (Required proficiency)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. (Required proficiency)
- Exceptional oral, written & interpersonal communication skills. (Required proficiency)
Licenses and Certifications
- Medical Technologist (MT-ASCP) or equivalent certification (Required Upon Hire) or
- Medical Lab Technician (MLT-ASCP) or equivalent certification (Required Upon Hire)
- or equivalent certification (Required)
