Job Description & Qualifications
The stroke center supervisor oversees the stroke program at Cleveland Medical center ensuring compliance with evidence based guidelines and the comprehensive stroke certification standards. With the stroke medical director and coordinator, the supervisor directs the implementation of program goals to achieve positive patient outcomes and continuous improvement of clinical and service quality.
What You Will Do
- Provides oversight and management of the program’s quality metrics and outcomes.
- Collaborates with other members of the healthcare team to meet all regulatory requirements and standards and ensure compliance with the UH Stroke clinical practice guidelines.
- Analyzes data and quality outcomes to identify trends and direct process improvement activities.
- Participates in system level committees and ensure integration of system initiatives at the entity level.
- Effectively leads and manages direct reports in alignment with system priorities and goals.

- Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
- (BSN) Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (Required)
Work Experience
- 3+ years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in areas of ED, ICU or neurology/neurosurgery (Required) and
- 2+ years of experience as stroke coordinator or similar role (Required) and
- Previous experience with The Joint Commission Stroke Center standards and data collection (Preferred) and
- Staff education and training experience (Preferred)
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Program development and management (Preferred proficiency)
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as strong organizational skills. (Required proficiency)
- Strong problem solving, teaching, and assessment skills. (Required proficiency)
- Data abstraction and analytics experience (Preferred proficiency)
- Proven ability to lead teams through program development and implementation (Required proficiency)
- Formal process improvement training (Preferred proficiency)
- Computer skills in all office applications with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (Required proficiency)
- Ability to function independently with minimal supervision and meet goals and deadlines (Required proficiency)
Licenses and Certifications
- Registered Nurse (RN), Ohio and/or Multi State Compact License Upon Hire (Required) and
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers (Required)
- Stroke Certified (Preferred)
