Job Description & Qualifications
The responsibilities of this position include: planning and executing between 2-4 projects in collaboration with faculty members from Department of Radiology. As a collaborator the RA will develop the experimental design for the project. They will perform data analysis utilizing bioinformatics tools. As a RA they will additionally prepare manuscripts and contribute preliminary data, background and significance and experimental design for presentations or grant proposals. They may have to develop and present workshops on the projects, research methods and scientific findings of their research. They will collaborate with members of the Department to develop training programs. The RA will conduct research for a variety of radiology management and IT problems based upon the interests of the Supervisors.
What You Will Do
- Responsible for data management supporting Radiology Data Science and Artificial Intelligence projects. This includes: data mining, data pull and storage; data cleaning and visualization; creation and splitting of datasets into training, validation, and test datasets; selection of model and libraries with vendors and collaborators; validation of the performance of algorithms; integration and deployment of validated AI models.
- Maintenance and quality assurance of data for data science and AI projects, preserving integrity and security of the enterprise radiology information system and any other.
- Liaising with multiple teams, stakeholders both internal (Enterprise IT, Radiology IT, technical support, software engineering) and external (clinical leadership, affiliated AI developers and labs), as well as other program and project managers within the organization to aid the progression of projects in a timely and high-quality manner.
- Supports Research, Development &Innovation operations, and integration into healthcare IT systems as well as submissions to governance/compliance boards (e.g., IRBs, Data Sharing Committee), in conjunction with the Radiology Research team
- Handles the integration, validation, and monitoring of AI applications for implementation in both research and clinical contexts. Coordinates projects and performs information gathering activities, including: measurements, interviews and observations.
- Manages communication and provides guidance on joint projects.
- Provides supporting documentation for projects, including: project plans, notes, white papers, time sheets and other agreed deliverables and abstracts in accordance with agreed time frames.
- Develops content with the goal of publishing in peer-review and trade journals, and with the objective of developing four published journal articles through one year term of position.
- Provides information, including reports, summaries, meeting minutes, etc. on an as needed basis and participates in conference calls and meetings as requested.

- Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
- Bachelor’s Degree (Required)
- Master’s Degree (Preferred) or
- Doctorate Degree PhD
Work Experience
- 1+ years BME, Computer Science or AI Machine Learning Applications, Health or Radiology Informatics (Required)
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- The ideal candidate should have an advanced degree and a combination of skills sets including healthcare and computer science/ AI ML. Examples include MD graduates with background in coding and machine learning and/or computer science/BME graduate with experience in radiology data. The candidate will be expected to work independently in a multi-disciplinary research team of faculty (both research and clinical), residents, Radiology staff, and graduate students. Skills related to understanding radiology work flow are essential. Candidates with experience in professional writing, as well as editing and website content providers are preferred. (Preferred proficiency)
