Job Description & Qualifications
The radiology scheduling coordinator II serves as a main coordinator for schedules and appointments, often between doctors and patients. They are also responsible for advanced level scheduling of patients. Coordinators must listen to the needs of the person requesting the appointment in order to determine the amount of time the appointment will require and then find the time that works best for both the patient and the Radiologist. They should be professional and have the ability to manage multiple calls. A good coordinator can determine the priority of patients’ needs to determine when an immediate slot should be found or if a patient can come in based on the current schedule. Coordinators manage cancelations, including a doctor who may need to reschedule a full day, finding the best alternatives for all involved. As a coordinator II, this position coordinates, assigns and guides the work activities of other patient scheduling staff. This position monitors work schedules, maintains department scheduling guidelines and templates, and trains and mentors new staff.
What You Will Do
- Representatives must use quality customer service techniques to ensure patient needs are met.
- Maintain professional interpersonal skills with patients, physicians and co-workers.
- Triaging Radiology Orders to other facilities as needed for ease of patient scheduling.
- Supports department operations, acts a liaison between site employees and administration
- Training, mentoring and orienting new radiology scheduling team members.
- Scheduling advanced procedures in conjunction with anesthesia, pediatric anesthesia, or pediatric sedation.
- Assist and communicate with patients, physicians and medical office with their radiology needs.
- Monitors patient schedules, workflow and activities with radiology to assure smooth coordinated patient flow.
- Leading scheduling team meetings to advance systemness and share best practices.
- Participate in tasking exams as needed.
- Demonstrates leadership abilities: resolves issues, monitors schedules, assists staff/patients, and ensures effective/efficient departmental workflow.

- Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
- High School Equivalent / GED High School Diploma or Equivalant (Required)
Work Experience
- 3+ years Computer experience with Radiology Information Systems (Required) and
- 3+ years customer service experience (Required) and
- 3+ years radiology scheduling experience (Required)
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Excellent communication and organizational skills (Required proficiency)
- Prior experience working with multiple physician practices to coordinate exams and obtain patient information. (Required proficiency)
- Detail oriented. (Required proficiency)
- Ability to multi-task. (Required proficiency)
