Job Description & Qualifications
This position provides support to the UH Clinical Research Community in research study design and feasibility analysis, patient list generation for purposes of recruitment and basic analytics/statistics support through the use of TriNetX, SlicerDicer or Cosmos. Additionally this role will provide data extraction support for research studies from the enterprise data warehouse or third-party systems with ability to prepare datasets for analysis.This role will work closely with Principal Investigators, Sub-Investigators, Residents, Fellow and Medical Studies alongside and with direction from the Clinical Research Center’s Biostatisticians to promote data-driven real world evidence research studies in the UH research community. This role will work closely CRC Biostatisticians and Director of Clinical Research Operations to support researchers by providing data extraction services and statistical support. Individuals in this role should have working knowledge of SQL and R or Python for statistical programming.
What You Will Do
- Translating research protocols into ICD10/ICD9 and HCPCS or Medical Terminology based cohorts in TriNetX, SlicerDicer or Cosmos for the purposes of study feasibility analysis or patient recruitment support
- Validating patient recruitment list requests comply with a research project’s corresponding IRB submission HIPAA waiver
- Performing general analysis using online tools based on cohorts designed in feasibility analysis to derive basic outcomes and baseline characteristics
- Hosting consultations with study teams to provide general guidance on preliminary study design support
- Coordinate request and delivery of datasets from the TriNetX environment for further analysis by a biostatistician
- Updating biostatistics project tracking to support deriving metrics for project timelines and types of projects being supported
- Extract raw datasets for preparation from relational databases using SQL
- Prepare and clean datasets for analysis using R or Python
Additional Responsibilities
- Review TriNetX User Access Requests
- Provide TriNetX Query Building and Analytics Training to Self-Service Users
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
- Bachelor’s Degree Pre-Medicine, Public Health, Biology, Statistics or related field (Required)
- Master’s Degree Epidemiology, Biology, Biostatistics or related field (Preferred)
Work Experience
- 2+ years Clinical Research, Public Health or related work experience (Preferred)
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Advanced Skill in MS Excel (Required proficiency)
- Understanding of medical terminology (Required proficiency)
- Understanding of statistics concepts (Required proficiency)
- Working knowledge of SQL and R, Python or Comparable Statistical Programming Language (Required proficiency)
- Growth toward strong understanding of medical terminology (Preferred proficiency)
- Ability to manage time and prioritize work independently (Required proficiency)
- Strong and clear communication skills (Required proficiency)
- General knowledge of the Epic Caboodle Data Structure (Preferred proficiency)

- 5% Travel to other sites is uncommon, most travel will be between WO Walker Building and UH Cleveland Medical Center Lakeside Building
