UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s is seeking a full-time Pediatric OD for a multi-location academic medical center faculty position.

The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences is seeking an academically-oriented pediatric optometrist to join our Division of Pediatric Ophthalmology. Academic rank and salary are commensurate with experience. The University Hospitals Eye Institute and the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at University Hospitals / Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) brings together world-renowned physicians and leading research scientists to prevent, treat, and cure the most prevalent and devastating diseases of the eye- all while training the next generation of ophthalmologists and optometrists.
The department supports an ACOE Optometry Residency Program, in partnership with The Ohio State University, hosts optometric externs from up to 5 schools and colleges of optometry each semester, an 18 resident Ophthalmology residency training program (6 per year), as well as fellowships in Pediatric Ophthalmology, Glaucoma, and Retina. A robust and active clinical trials team (Vision Research Coordinating Center) supports investigator-initiated trials as well as NIH and corporate sponsored studies. The Visual Science Research Center, which is led by the Department, of CWRU School of Medicine is a top funded basic science research group supported by P-30 core and T-32 training grants. Clinical research opportunities are available working with our nationally recognized Vision Research Coordinating Center.
This integrated healthcare delivery system includes:
- More than 3,900 providers
- 6 Optometrists and 18 Ophthalmologists
- Robust research and innovation endeavors
- An American College of Surgeons certified pediatric trauma center
The successful candidates will join a dedicated and growing team of 2 Pediatric Ophthalmologists and 1 Pediatric Optometrist who manage over 13,500 patient visits per year at 5 locations throughout Northeast Ohio. Our team provides comprehensive, compassionate vision care to children whose needs range from general eye exams to treatment of the most complex childhood eye diseases and disorders.

The candidate must be a graduate of a United States accredited School of Optometry and have passed all parts of the NBEO exam. Residency training in pediatric optometry is preferred. The candidate must also possess/maintain a current, full and unrestricted license to practice optometry in the State of Ohio.
