The Massage Therapist role within the UH Connor Whole Health – Westlake location offers a unique chance to become part of a dynamic, collaborative interdisciplinary team. This position adds value to patient care and significantly assists individuals with various issues.
We currently offer an opportunity for a PRN, Massage Therapist to support patients in Westlake.
A Brief Overview
The Massage Therapist administers professional massage and body treatments to our guests. They must have a thorough knowledge of numerous massage modalities, possess a general understanding of body treatments and be willing to train on specific massage and body treatment offerings. They must possess excellent communication skills and be able to learn the service offerings necessary to effectively provide wellness solutions to meet the needs of our guests. They must hold and maintain a current state license.
What You Will Do
- Be on time for your shift, prompt with each appointment and perform services within the appropriate time allotted for the service.
- Provide consistent professional massage and body treatments in accordance with protocols and accepted certification practices.
- Assess clients’ soft tissue condition, joint quality and function, muscle strength, and range of motion.
- Effectively inform and educate our guests about specific wellness concerns.
- Be flexible with your schedule, supporting the needs of the dept.
- Properly care for equipment and use proper amounts of product to assist with cost controls.
- Have complete knowledge and understanding of all services and products offered.
- Uphold the standards of sanitation and sterilization as directed by law and the dept policies and procedures.
- Perform prep work, properly clean and restock room as required.
- Communicate to management any and all occurrences involving staff or guests in the dept that require attention.
- Actively promote the department, treatments, services and retail, as well as programs, promotions and/or discounts available.
- Handle guests’ questions and concerns professionally and courteously.
- Provide accurate, appropriate and immediate responses to all requests by guests.
- Possess the ability to work without direct supervision.
- Maintain a positive attitude and contribute toward a quality work environment.
- Regularly attend, participate in and support training and staff meetings for the dept.
- Assist in all areas of department operation as requested by management.
- Refer clients to other types of services as needed
- Responsible for adhering to the standards and ethics of the Exhale Spa and the State Medical Board of Ohio
- Continues to market self for future business
- Provide clients with guidance and information about techniques for postural improvement, and stretching, strengthening, relaxation and rehabilitative exercises.
Additional Responsibilities
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
- For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation.
- Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
Education
- High School Equivalent / GED (Required)
- Completion of an accredited massage therapy program.
Work Experience
- 2+ years Experience in 2 or more disciplines of massage techniques (Preferred)
- 1+ years massage therapy experience (Required)
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Ability to document massage intake forms on each client (Required proficiency)
- Strong communication skills (Required proficiency)
- One year customer service experience (Required proficiency)
- Ability to work a flexible schedule (Required proficiency)
- Clientele following. (Preferred proficiency)
- Ability to use tools and accessories associated with the massage (for example: warm towels, hot stones, etc) (Required proficiency)
- Must have enthusiasm and possess excellent customer service skills. (Required proficiency)
- Enjoy working with people and possess a friendly and outgoing personality. (Required proficiency)
- Excellent communication and listening skills, as well as basic computer knowledge. (Required proficiency)
- Team player. (Required proficiency)
- Must participate in a minimum of 2 volunteer UH events/year and provide chair massage samplings (health fairs, community events etc) (Required proficiency)
Licenses and Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Heartsaver First Aid/CPR/AED within 90 Days (Required)
- Must hold and maintain an Ohio Massage Therapy license (Required)
Preferred Qualifications/Position Details
Previous experience in 2 or more disciplines of massage techniques, such as Lymphatic Drainage, is preferred. At least 1 year of recent experience is required. This MT will provide care for all ages. Position is PRN, weekdays, and will work out of our outpatient office location in Westlake.
