Senior Patient Access Representative – Radiology Registration

As a Senior Patient Access Representative in Radiology Registration, you play an essential role in creating a seamless experience for patients undergoing diagnostic imaging services. From the moment patients arrive, you help ensure they feel welcomed, informed, and prepared for their appointment.
In this highly collaborative role, you’ll partner with radiology technologists, providers, schedulers, and clinical teams to coordinate patient care, verify critical information, and support efficient department operations. Your work directly impacts patient satisfaction, appointment readiness, and the overall success of the imaging care team.
What You’ll Do
- Serve as a welcoming first point of contact for patients and families visiting the Radiology Department.
- Guide patients through the registration and check-in process with professionalism, empathy, and attention to detail.
- Verify and update patient demographic, insurance, and financial information to support accurate registration and billing.
- Assist patients with questions related to imaging appointments, scheduling, preparation instructions, and department processes.
- Support patient enrollment and utilization of MyChart and other digital patient resources.
- Coordinate with radiologists, technologists, providers, and support staff to ensure patients are prepared and appointments remain on schedule.
- Manage incoming phone calls and patient inquiries while delivering exceptional customer service.
- Communicate with insurance carriers regarding eligibility, authorizations, coverage verification, and billing-related questions.
- Collect and process patient payments, including copays, deductibles, coinsurance, and prior balances.
- Schedule follow-up appointments, referrals, and imaging services as appropriate.
- Maintain accurate patient records through timely document scanning and electronic record management in EPIC.
- Effectively manage EPIC work queues, worklists, and in-basket messages to support department workflows.
- Assist with onboarding and training of new Patient Access Representatives and serve as a resource to team members.
- Support departmental operations through supply management, scheduling assistance, and performance improvement initiatives.

- May provide coverage at multiple imaging locations as needed.

- Comply with all organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and patient privacy standards, including the protection of Protected Health Information (PHI).

Education
- High School Equivalent / GED (Required)
- Associate’s Degree (Preferred)
Work Experience
- 2+ years of patient/customer service in a hospital, physician practice of medical clinic (Required)
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Exceptional communication skills with both patients and medical care providers to relay necessary information (Required proficiency)
- Ability to multitask and prioritize multiple responsibilities and handle interruptions (Required proficiency)
- Strong organizational skills (Required proficiency)
- Problem-solving skills for scheduling conflicts, missing documentation and other issues (Required proficiency)
- Attention to detail to ensure all patient information is accurate and available (Required proficiency)
- Compassion to help patients and caregivers in difficult situations (Required proficiency)
- Understanding of the importance of confidentiality (Required proficiency)
- Basic knowledge of electronic health records and basic medical terminology. (Required proficiency)
