A Brief Overview
The Imaging Assistant provides on-site support and assistance to the remote Technologist in caring for patients during the imaging process. This position supports procedures by ensuring proper patient care, patient safety, and proper patient positioning. The Imaging Assistant will work under the supervision of the remote Technologist to assist with imaging tasks and maintain equipment quality. This role will support patients and family members during the imaging process, complete clerical/computer duties, lift/transport patients, and follow hospital and departmental policies, protocols, and SOPs (including Radiation and MRI safety).
What You Will Do
- Assists the Technologist by completing basic patient assessments including verifying patient orders, completing patient questionnaires, patient preparation, and patient instruction.
- Facilitates patient care including: transporting, lifting, screening, and chaperoning/monitoring of patients.
- Prepares examination rooms and assists with contrast media administration.
- Positions patients and identifies anatomical landmarks for imaging.
- Provides basic patient care, including: vital signs, patient transfer, equipment management.
- Performs quality control tasks, such as equipment checks and scanner set-ups.
- Assists with Radiology computer information and data entry including PACS system.
- Ensures the adequate availability of procedural supplies to include ordering and stocking patient care supply items.
- Follows hospital initiatives in order to meet patient satisfaction goals.
- Follows MRI and radiation safety policies and procedures.
- Communicates with other members of health care team to help coordinate patient care.

- Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
- High School Equivalent / GED (Required) and
Work Experience
- 1+ years Service-related experience (Preferred)

- Basic patient care skills. (Required proficiency)
- Able to communicate effectively and interact with a diverse population across multi-generations. (Required proficiency)
- Able to organize and adjust to changing workflow and patient care needs. (Required proficiency)
- Excellent communication skills. (Required proficiency)
- Excellent attention to detail. (Required proficiency)
- Good knowledge of patient care equipment specific to assigned population; telephone; nurse call system; computers. (Required proficiency)
- Knowledge of PAC system and electronic health records. (Required proficiency)
- Ability to follow safety protocols and procedures. (Required proficiency)
