Job Description & Qualifications
A Brief Overview
Primarily responsible for interactions with business users, vendors, project managers, design architects and technology managers to assess, remediate, and deploy network technology throughout the UH enterprise network. Collaborates with the UH Network Manager, UH Network Architect, and our partner vendor account teams (such as Cisco, f5, Palo Alto, Infoblox, and others) to assess the current infrastructure and formulate plans for replacement, upgrade, and modification of its components. Reviews design documents, validates implementation, and produces an documentation on completed work. Responsible for assisting with the design and implementation of new networking services. Interacts with business users and vendors to identify and define requirements and expectations of new and existing network systems.
What You Will Do
- In conjunction with network and other infrastructure teams, develops, tests, presents and deploys network solutions for the enterprise.
- Process complex incidents, requests, changes, and architecture tasks from Service Now for network services.
- Respond to complex on-call escalations during service impactful events.
- Validates the implementation of the Network Design document by reviewing configuration, installation, and replacement of network infrastructure components.
- Remotely administers and maintains complex TCP/IP networks using routers and switches.
- Creates and maintains comprehensive documentation related to the network infrastructure.
- Schedules upgrades and collaborates with Cisco, Palo, f5, Infoblox, and others to keep environment in a stable and supported state.
- Recommends, reviews, tests, schedules and implements upgrades (IOS upgrades, server patches, f5OS, PANOS, or others).
- Configures support of Cisco networking devices.
- Provides support using network management tools including Cisco Catalyst Center, Cisco Prime Infrastructure, ACI APICs, Panorama, BigIQ, Solar Winds, Ansible servers, Python servers, and various others.
- Uses network monitoring tools to investigate network events, including Splunk, Solar Winds, ThousandEyes, LiveAction NPM, Wireshark, and our list of management tools.
- Responds to occasional after hours on-call requests based on rotating schedule.

- Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
Education Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or related field with an interest in Information Technology Networks (Required)
Experience Qualifications
- 10+ years Of experience with Enterprise Network infrastructure, including design, implementation, and ongoing management and troubleshooting (Required) and
- Practical experience in the use of network monitoring tools such as Cisco Catalyst Center, Splunk, ThousandEyes, Solar Winds, LiveAction NPM and Wireshark (Required) and
- Experience with provisioning data services such as DIA, ASE, and MPLS circuits. (Required) and
- Experience with security devices such as Palo Alto, FirePower, and ASA firewalls. (Required) and
- Experience with load balancers such as f5 rSeries and distributed cloud (Required) and
- Experience with wireless solutions such as Cisco’s AP/WLC architecture (Required) and
- Experience with Cisco’s ACI datacenter architecture (Preferred) and
- Experience with networking in cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure (Preferred)

- Strong knowledge and experience with network protocols such as Spanning-Tree, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP. (Required proficiency)
- Knowledge of Cisco network, datacenter and wireless technologies. (Required proficiency)
- Complex problem solving abilities with experience in performing root cause analysis. (Required proficiency)
- Enterprise DNS and DHCP technologies. (Required proficiency)
- Valid Driver’s license and reliable transportation (Required proficiency)
- LAN: Cisco Layer 2 & 3 devices, optical connectivity, and routing protocols (Required proficiency)
- WAN: MPLS, ASEoD, and DIA (Required proficiency)
- Security: Palo Alto, Panorama, Strata Cloud Manager, Firemon (Required proficiency)
- Wireless: Cisco access points, Cisco controllers, Cisco Catalyst Center, DNA Spaces, Meraki, Ekahau, ThousandEyes (Required proficiency)
- Load Balancing: f5 iSeries, rSeries, LTM, distributed cloud (Required proficiency)
- Management Tools: Solarwinds, Ansible, Python, ACI APIC, BigIQ, Panorama (Required proficiency)
