JOB DESCRIPTION

Description

The program manager will support existing and new partnered programs within HDI’s portfolio for translation of academic drug discovery, and act as a liaison with counterparts from strategic partnerships such as Oxford University, ADDF and others. The position will have a particular emphasis on Rare Disease programs, including acting as a liaison to the counterpart Oxford Program Manager for the Oxford Harrington Rare Disease Centre. S/he will also contribute to developing new funding opportunities for Fund For Cures UK and other programs by conducting targeted research, writing proposals and presentations, and will work with HDI senior leadership to develop strategic plans for HDI Center Programs, such as the Rare Disease Center and the Brain Health Center.

Key responsibilities:

Support Oxford-Harrington Rare Disease Centre (OHC) including

  • Research and create content for program calls, marketing, and development efforts
  • On-line research into rare disease drug development trends
  • Source academic investigators for solicitation of grant applications
  • Act as liaison for counterpart on Oxford side contributing to Centre Directors’ leadership agenda and execution of the OHC’s business plan.
  • Contribute to UK fundraising efforts including: partner with business development in creating strategic partnerships and sponsored research agreements; government grant application support; research and provide content to promote Fund For Cures UK;

Support HDI Centers such as the Brain Health center and the major Disease Center:

  • work with local development team to support philanthropic build-out of projects
  • work with project managers and center directors to track center portfolio metrics

Other duties as assigned

Candidate must be willing to travel on an as-needed basis, at least once per quarter

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications

Education.

Candidates should have a Masters degree in Business, Science or Engineering, or a Bachelor’s degree with 5 or more years of experience in a field related to drug discovery and development, biotechnology, or pharmaceuticals.

Experience & Knowledge:

Highly qualified candidates will have 3-5 years of experience in applied science or engineering in  pharmaceutical relevant field, or  business development in biotechnology or pharmaceuticals,  Preferred competencies include:

•             Experience managing complex protocols that require attention to detail (e.g. designing and performing experiments in scientific discovery; developing and managing quality systems; grant writing)

•             Strong communication skills to convey complex information to a variety of audiences with different backgrounds and needs

•             Exceptional interpersonal skills

•             Ability to conduct and analyze business and financial research

•             Excellent organizational and time management skills

•             Attention to detail in handling diverse tasks to advance multiple parallel priorities

•             Adaptive work style that ensures effective collaboration with a lean and nimble team

•             Acute responsiveness to changing priorities and new opportunities

Special Skills & Equipment Knowledge:

•             Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Project)

Preferred Skills:

•             SalesForce (CRM database)

•             Cortellis (market research tool)

•             Box.com (cloud-based file sharing)
