JOB DESCRIPTION

Description

This position will be primarily responsible for philanthropic and external support analytics which include tracking, analyzing, and reporting data on fundraising and campaign programs as well as individual benchmarks of fundraiser and operational fundraiser performance Responsibilities would include but not be limited to the following: extracting both clinical and financial data from existing information systems (e.g. Raiser’s Edge, data warehouse, etc), developing methodologies to track other relevant data that is not already captured in an existing system, developing reports and reporting platforms (i.e. Dashboards) to increase transparency and information flow among IR&D and UH system leadership, supervisors, finance administrators, and other management, and providing other necessary analytical support to management in order to improve the quality and consistency of external support programs at University Hospitals. Works on low- and medium-level complexity projects independently, and seeks guidance, as appropriate, on highly complex tasks. Participates in defining deliverables and estimates as input to a project plan. Communicates effectively with internal customers.  Candidate should have high analytical ability to solve complex business problems and be a self-starter, able to work independently with staff at various levels of the organization.

  • Manage the full development cycle of data reporting, from collecting requirements, to designing, testing, deploying, and maintaining new enterprise reporting resources.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business processes and develop solutions.
  • Work with colleagues and report developer to continually evaluate reporting tools and proactively recommend ways to improve data collection, storage, and retrieval processes.
  • Present and format data and technical information for various end-users. 
  • Make detailed recommendations for further data analysis.
  • Meet project deadlines while accurately providing attention to detail. 
  • Uses experience, research and analysis to translate business requirements into creative, innovative, and effective solutions.
  • Engage end-users and data analysts to understand the business requirements, create prototypes, and facilitate the design and development process. 
  • Troubleshoot issues and resolve problems in a decentralized environment. 
  • Work with decentralized and diverse technical teams, effectively driving solution adoption and acceptance. 
  • Interprets business, technical, and data requirements of a low and medium level complexity, evaluating their effectiveness and determining solution requirements
  • Implements solution requirements of a low- and medium-level complexity including moving data from multiple data sources including the donor database, patient database, and finance reports/Oracle into dashboards or other formats for analysis
  • Develops and prepares well organized written deliverables with minimal oversight
  • Communicates task and deliverable status to leadership team and internal customers on a timely basis
  • Strives for efficiencies when areas and/or processes require improvement
  • Provides support for application problems
  • Executes tasks accurately and error-free
  • Works independently, and requires limited guidance and supervision
  • Effectively presents well-organized information to small groups
  • Interacts easily and professionally in group discussions
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and management including system leadership, IR&D and clinical staff, vendors, and consultants.  Must have demonstrated skills working and responding to various customer requests for data and information. 
  • Promotes effective team communication and strong working relationships.

*This role will encounter Protected Health Information (PHI) and donor data as part of regular responsibilities.  UH employees must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain PHI for our patients.  Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications

Education:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare Management, Economics, Finance, Accounting, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field required
  • Master’s degree in related disciplines preferred

Experience & Knowledge:

 

  • Minimum of 3 years of professional technical and analyst experience in fundraising, healthcare management, finance or information systems. 
  • 3-5 years preferred.  Additional education may substitute for experience (e.g. Master’s degree). 
  • Experience with Reporting and Analytics tools such as Power BI, SQL, SSRS, MS Excel, and/or Tableau preferred..
  • Experience with RDBMS platforms (SQL Server, Oracle, and/or MySQL) desired.
  • Business reporting and analytics experience required.
  • Experience in fundraising, particularly fundraising business processes, prospect management, and/or gift accounting highly desired.
  • Understanding of product development life cycle, quality assurance and quality control processes.
  • Strong analytical skills, and the ability to analyze and solve complex business problems through technology solutions required.
  • Must be detail-oriented and organized, with good research, analytical and problem-solving ability. 
  • Notable client service, communication, presentation and relationship building skills required. 
  • Ability to function independently and as a team player in a fast-paced environment required. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with various levels in an organization.
